1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville

The 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville was updated from the 1957 version distinguished by quad headlights. It also got a new hood, a new front bumper with “dagmars” mounted lower and further apart combined with a full-width jeweled grille. A V-shaped ornament and model identification script was asymmetrically mounted to the deck lid. Other styling updates included the addition of ten vertical chrome slashes ahead of the open rear wheel housings and crest medallions on the flank of the tailfins. The split rear bumper assemblies were each updated with a low-profile combined reverse light/grille unit that replaced the previous year’s separate, round exhaust exits and reverse lights. The rear license plate housing was now flanked on each side by five vertical hash marks. Standard equipment included Hydra-Matic transmission, power brakes, power steering, power windows, and power front seat. All Eldorados were equipped with triple 2-barrel carburetors increasing the engine to 335 horsepower. This car also has optional air conditioning, tinted windows, power door locks, and Autronic-Eye auto-dimming headlights.

This car was delivered to Huntsville Alabama where it spent its first 50 years under three owners. When Bill acquired the car in 2005, it was completely disassembled. He engaged award winning restorer Dennis Lyon, Impatient Creations in Alabaster, Alabama, in 2006 for a complete restoration. The restoration was completed in 2011. Between then and donation to the Museum in 2024, it won numerous awards at shows throughout the country including Best of Show at the 2021 Cadillac Fall Festival.
