The 1966 Cadillacs offered several firsts including variable ratio steering, optional front seats with carbon cloth heating pads built into seat cushions and backs. Comfort and convenience innovations were seat headrests, reclining seats and an AM/FM Stereo system. This sales year for Cadillac with 196,675 cars sold. Styling was a mild facelift to the styling introduced in 1965. Gone were any vestiges of fins but the symmetrical rear fender forms tapered to thin edges at the top and bottom giving a traditional visual impression.

The Fleetwood interiors included special fabrics and leather with walnut wood trim. In the Brougham rear compartment there were folding footrests, lighted fold-down tray tables mounted in the front seat backs and adjustable reading lamps for each passenger. These models, a complete complement of power controls including vent windows and automatic level control. Outside the Broughams were distinguished by a unique vinyl top and special emblems to identify this extra-rich model.
