Comfort and convenience innovations were seat headrests, reclining seats and an AM/FM Stereo system. This sales year for Cadillac with 196,675 cars sold. Styling was a mild facelift to the styling introduced in 1965. Gone were any vestiges of fins but the symmetrical rear fender forms tapered to thin edges at the top and bottom giving a traditional visual impression.

The Fleetwood interiors included special fabrics and leather with walnut wood trim. In the Brougham rear compartment there were folding footrests, lighted fold-down tray tables mounted in the front seat backs and adjustable reading lamps for each passenger. These models, a complete complement of power controls including vent windows and automatic level control. Outside the Broughams were distinguished by a unique vinyl top and special emblems to identify this extra-rich model.
