2002 Cadillac Eldorado Collector Series ECS Coupe

The 2002 Cadillac Eldorado was the fiftieth and last year for the Eldorado and part of the 12th Generation of the model that began in 1953.

To mark the end of the Eldorado, 1596 special Collector Series were produced out of a total production of 7052 in 2002. Dick Ruzzin was the designer of the 2001 and 2002 Cadillac Eldorados.

The Collector Series cars were manufactured in three batches of 532, the same number as the total Eldorados produced in 1953. Like the 1953 models the 2002 Collector Series cars were only available in Alpine White (1,064) or Aztec Red (532).

The interiors were either black with red accents or white with tan accents. Carbon fiber trim replaced wood trim make the interiors unique. A dash mounted plaque identified each particular with its specific production number (### of 1596). The car donated by Mr. Page is Alpine White and the white interior with tan accents.

The “icing on the cake” was a tuned exhaust on the Collector Series that replicated the exhaust sound of the mid-1950s Cadillac V-8 engines.

Production of the 2002 Cadillac Eldorados ended on April 22, 2002. The last Eldorado produced was donated to the GM Heritage Museum in honor of Cadillac dealer Don Massey. His 54,000 square foot dealership in Plymouth, Michigan, was the largest U.S. seller of Cadillacs in the 1990s selling 6% of all Cadillacs produced. Nicola Bulgari, vice chairman of Bulgari S.p.A., known for its BVLGARI jewelry and watches was permitted to purchase the second to last Eldorado to add to his collection of classic cars in Rome, Italy.
